Legal domuments required for wedding in Slovakia

♥ Civil and Religious Weddings in the Slovak Republic are mostly recognized by respective legal systems for all the nationalities from around the world. As the stated is subject to change without notice, please contact the Registry Office in your home country for more details.

♥ The Translated Marriage Certificate is sent to each client within 21 days after the ceremony as a legal proof of the marriage.

♥ Copy of marriage certificate (if bride and groom are of different nationalities then two marriage certificates will be required) is charged extra.

♥ IMPULS – Wedding Agency will assist you in obtaining all the required documentation enabling you to become legally married in Slovak Republic.

♥ It is necessary for the Bride and Groom to arrive in Slovakia soonest 6 Months, latest 14 Days prior to the wedding day to visit local offices and finish up paperwork. Our Wedding Coordinator will accompany you to the required local offices prior to the wedding ceremony. It is necessary to document on time!

♥ Slovak law requires an officially authorized court translator to translate the Legal Documents and a translator (it does not to be an authorized court translator) to attend the ceremony if either the Bride or Groom does not speak Slovak. IMPULS – Wedding Agency will ensure the translations and presence of the interpreter.

Price of our services does not include costs for obtaining documents required from the client in his/ her home country (Birth Certificate, No impediment to marry, etc.).

Generally required documents from your home country:

♥ Birth-certificate
♥ Legal capacity certificate (depending on country the document is valid 3 – 6 months)
♥ Citizenship certificate
♥ Residence certificate
♥ Certificate of no Impediment to Marriage
♥ Death certificate of dead wife/husband, if the foreigner is widowed
♥ Court Divorce Decree Absolute (if appropriate)
♥ Identification card/ passport

All of the certificates must be translated by certified translator into Slovak language, with attestation clause.

Certificates issued in the country which did not sign an „Agreement of legal cooperation“ with Slovak republic, must be verified by representative body of Slovak republic in the home country.

Actual list of the countries, which have an „Agreement of legal cooperation“ with Slovak republic is available in every Registry office in SR. Certificates issued in country which has signed an „Agreement of abandoning the requirement of super-legalization“ with SR must have „APOSTILE“ issued by the particular authority in the foreign country. In case of church wedding the certificates are documented in Registry office in place of contracting of marriage, after agreement with the priest of roman-catholic parish office.

Time frame

It is necessary for the Bride and Groom to arrive in Slovakia to visit the Registry Office and document no sooner than 6 Months, latest 14 Days prior to the wedding day.

Last minute Weddings must also fall into the time frame mentioned above!

  1. You receive the list of the needed Legal Documents to marriage in Slovakia.
  2. When you have visited all necessary Offices in your home country and received the documents, please scan them and send via e-mail to the IMPULS – Wedding Agency.
  3. We will check at the Registry Office in Slovakia, if the documents are proper. If no, we let you know what is missing. Please, complete the missing documents.
  4. When the documentation is proper, we manage the translations.
  5. After translations, we arrange your personal visit at the Registry Office in Slovakia. Our Wedding Coordinator will accompany you to the required local offices prior to the wedding ceremony. If necessary, we arrange also accommodation for you two while staying in Slovakia.

♥ Only one visit prior your Wedding Day is necessary. You may join this visit with visiting IMPULS – Wedding Agency for the consultation and signing an Agreement or take part on Pre-Wedding Trip. Another visit is needy on your Wedding Day.
